Attend a Come and Try Session
If you are new to archery, come in for an introductory session with one of our experienced volunteer archers or qualified club coaches to learn the basics of archery. You will be guided through the fundamentals of how to use a bow, equipment and safety. If you can safely shoot would like to continue your archery journey, we can advise you on the next steps and assist you through the application process.

Buying Equipment
If you are new to archery, the sheer variety of equipment available can make buying your own bow a daunting prospect. Our experienced archers, club coaches and committee volunteers can discuss your preferences and advise on what equipment might be best for you.
Deciding where to purchase equipment from can be tricky as some suppliers, particularly when shopping online, can offer gear that is substandard quality or not right for you. Our recommended equipment suppliers below are well regarded in the archery world and can set you up with good equipment and the right advice.

Join the Australian Bowhunters Association (ABA)
Manly Warringah Field Archers is affiliated with the Australian Bowhunters Association. The ABA is part of the International Field Archery Association and caters for both bowhunting and field archery activities across Australia. ABA provides public liability insurance coverage and access to a range of events, resources and services for ABA members.
Being an ongoing financial member with the ABA is a requirement of your Manly Warringah Field Archers club membership. Join the ABA in a few easy steps:
Step 1: You must join the ABA directly through their member portal (below) before completing your club membership application.
Step 2: Select Individual Adult, Individual Junior/Cub (under 18 years) or Family (parents and their children under 18) membership.
Step 3: Enter your user account and personal/contact details.
Step 4: Please make sure you nominate Manly Warringah Field Archers Inc as your club when applying.
Step 5: Enter your payment information and you will receive your ABA member number and expiry date information in around 2-3 days.

Club Orientation, Application Form and Club Membership Fees
Step 1: Once you have your ABA member details, visit the club with any archery gear you may have (bow, arrows, etc) for a safety inspection and club orientation.
The best time to visit the club grounds is on a Wednesday or Sunday morning when our club committee or coaches will be available to help you. Other times are available by appointment, email us at archery@mwfa.info.
Step 2: We will check over your gear and your basic archery form, and take you through the basic club rules, events and facilities.
Step 3: After your orientation, you will be asked to fill out a club membership application form, this is not available online.
Step 4: Once you have completed the form and paid your Manly Warringah Field Archers membership fee, your application will be processed within a few days.
Club membership fees can be paid at the clubhouse via the following:
- Card / EFTPOS
- Direct Deposit
- Cash
Renewals are paid annually on the anniversary of your joining date and can be paid online as well as via the methods above.

Now that you have become a member, you are welcome to visit the club grounds at any time and as often as you like. Take the time to build on your skills, try out archery events, and immerse yourself in the challenging, relaxing, wonderful experience of archery!
